And Joshua won;t have home support although he will have a lot of travelling nutters! I feel the same. He almost won that fight, and was landing a lot of power shots into AJ's face.

Because Wlad was getting outboxed Joshua won't make the mistake to let himself gas out again. Wlad's only hope is a one hitter quitter Early rounds were close, could have gone either way.

I think for sure Wlad would have won on points without the knockout, but before he gassed himself and nearly got knocked out, Joshua was boxing pretty well and I couldn't really seperate them in the early rounds.

Before Joshua gassed himself, he was at worst even with Klitschko and arguably won all four rounds, though I personally thought the 4th went clearly Wlad's way.

Klitschko clearly doesn't like facing opponents with size and Joshua combines that with enough skill to earn a decision if he has to go the distance.

If AJ can just learn how to be smart instead of forcing the issue he did the same sort of thing when he stopped jabbing against Whyte and got himself wobbled then I just don't see how Wlad, or any other HW for that matter, beats him.

American judge Don Trella had the British fighter ahead , while Puerto Rico's Nelson Vazquez scored the fight slightly closer at The third judge, American Steve Weisfeld, viewed the fight differently and had Klitschko in front at heading into the eleventh.

Not from what I saw. AJ with better bodywork all over up to round 6. I was rooting for and expecting Wlad to outbox him as well First boxing match I've seen at a pub, atmosphere was fantastic.

Will definitely go again next time there is a big match in England. Too bad that all american fights is at 4 AM in the morning here.

There is something about boxing that I can't describe that just puts it forever above UFC for me. I think this fight encapsulates it perfectly.

Was AJ just too big to clinch? The guy knows for this 1,2 clinch could barely hold him down. What an exciting fight, I was sad as hell that Klit didn't put him away but props to AJ for stepping up.

Was Fury? Fury was moving Wlad around the ring as he pleased. But i don't think that's the problem. The problem is that Wlad needs to use more variety of shots and combinations against huge boxers.

Also he need to be 30 and not Fury is bigger than Wlad so I suppose? I agree that he needs it, he has the left hook, the jab and the right cross but when you win for 11 years with it I assume that's all you think of using lol.

As you could see in the fight, the left hook was not hitting AJ so I'm assuming he trained hard to dodge it. The jabs on the other hand were not dodged that much and the jab stats show it.

Wlad's style has worked very well on people smaller than him, but AJ is roughly almost the same size so it's much more difficult to go for the clinch with him.

Wlad should have probably let his hands go off more, but a safe style for 11 years probably has its negative in this case.

AJ was heavier and stronger physically. Wlad's clinches would probably have exhausted him more than Joshua. I didn't watch the whole fight but I'm super impressed that Klitschko can still hang with youngings.

More than anything, this fight showed why Wlad had been the greatest for such a long time. Still stand by the best punch of that fight was Joshua's uppercut in the 11th, the fact Klitschko didn't go down from that says a lot about him.

I for one am excited for the rematch as they'll both learn from their mistakes in the first, hopefully we'll have an announcement soon!

IMO the reason this was a great fight is because AJ went ballistic when he had Wlad hurt, didn't pace himself, punched himself out and let Wlad back in the fight because of his inexperience.

You can see the crazy over emotional scream he let out when he floored Wlad the first time. The next fight I think will be even more decisive with Wlad being even older and AJ more experienced.

I watched this live in a pub in England surrounded by lots of drunk people. Amazing atmosphere and an incredible fight! This is the type of boxing match people have been wanting to watch.

If only the bureaucracy of boxing would get out of the way. What a truly great fight, was Klitchsko as good as he used to be?

No, but was AJ as good as he's going to be? I don't watch a lot of boxing because I feel like it can be pretty boring because everyone is just defending and going for points or whatever.

These are the kind of fights boxing needs and could make it regain its popularity. This was awesome.

Wlads no joke and enjoyed a lot of success in the first. I thought "Yup" he just might do it Wow, when was the last time two heavyweights that athletic had so much gas that late in the fight?

That was beautiful. This was a great, exciting fight. It wasn't the best in a long time though. His reaction to the fight. He dropped a lot of the hestitancy we have sen and went for it.

At his age, what an achievement. Any case for it being stopped just a tad too soon? Klit was not worse off than when he went down earier IMO.

There is a case, Klitschko had only taken one clean body shot in that sequence. But the referee was basing it on the two previous exchanges in that round, where Klitshko eventually got opened up, and there was a real danger of him getting seriously hurt against the ropes.

No diss on this fight, but Whyte vs Chisora was the most entertaining HW fight in a long time by far. Probably because throwing too much may leave you open to getting smashed in the face as well as tiring you out prematurely?

It was for me. I think it was just the anticipation and build up and what was at stake. Every second was nerve racking, cause it could end that second.

You have a popular undefeated punching machine vs a legendary HW coming back from a loss. A lot of people thought maybe it may have been too early for AJ.

Also people didn't know what kind of Klitschko we were going to get, was it going to be a washed up one or one that was coming back for redemption?

In the fight there were a number of knockdowns and blistering power punches thrown. It could've gone either way at any point. That was a great fight.

I rewatched that recently. It was really an interesring see-saw type of action. Plus the back story was interesting. This Klit-AJ was old face man bout to sail off vs young future cashcow face hypejob.

Whyte Chisora was amazing. They beat the living piss out of each other. More entertaining than Josh Klit imo. I wonder what you mean with "you lot", though.

Whyte-Chisora was an incredibly fun all-action fight but it lacked those "oh shit! The drama of knockdowns and comebacks. With Joshua-Klitschko the stakes and skill level were higher.

That's what puts that fight ahead of White-Chisora in my eyes but not by far. Both great fights. Miller-Washington wasn't up there, though.

It was too one-sided in my eyes for it to be really fun. Washington's conditioning is notoriously bad seriously, he needs to cut muscles and up his stamina and Miller had to shake a lot of ring rust.

After two rounds Washington looked like he was about to go and didn't really get better again. It was a good fight but nowhere near Whyte-Chisora and certainly not near Joshua-Klitschko.

Is this comment chain not about Whyte-Chisora? My comparison is Miller-Washington to Whyte-Chisora. It was two sloppy, lumbering big guys that didn't demonstrate much in the way of skill and were gassed by the mid-rounds.

Yes, it is, and it seems I misunderstood what you were saying. I do think that Whyte-Chisora was better than Miller-Washington, though. Whyte-Chisora had the back-and-forth Miller-Washington was missing.

I found Whyte-Chisora much more thrilling than Miller-Washington. Joshua is a hypejob. Can't wait til someone knocks that overmuscled straining for breath steroid freak out.

The way that he wings his punches too its bound to happen soon. Also atrocious that if that fight would've went to the cards before the rather interesting stoppage they were going to rob Wlad anyway.

That's the most interesting matchup at heavyweight for me. Also why do you refer to him as "Klit"? That's just nasty. Also, that Klitschko beats Fury all day.

Also true of every fight, anywhere, ever. Only takes one to end things.. Still, despite the loss, Klitschko deserves all the respect and admiration in the world for the performance he put on against someone like Joshua.

Klitschkos K. And this version of Klitschko betas Parker and Wilder easy. He could snatch one of them belts and just rack up wins in Germany and collect paychecks.

No one is sleeping on him. Everyone is fully aware of what the man can do, we've seen his career over the last 15 years and know he done well in this fight.

But this is it. He won't beat Joshua. If he could have, he would have in that fight. Instead, he won the fight. Klitschko won't beat him in a rematch, and sure, he can probably mop up outside the top rank, but why?

He has done it all, I don't think he would have any desire to carry on beating nobodies on home turf just to make a paycheck, He wouldn't want that.

Too proud. He is a smart man, he knew his days were numbered, time waits for no man. Especially true in sport.

Think he moves on to other things after any rematch with AJ, if he goes for one. Also I would add that "collecting paychecks" doesn't mean shit to Wlad.

At a certain point money stops being particularly important because you have so much. Wlad undoubtedly hit that point years ago.

And has made 10's of millions of dollars additional since. Says who? He could beat him. You guys are acting like it was Kovalev-Hopkins.

Fuck, Klitschko was 1 inch away from hitting him on his way down and finishing him. Another year in the legs of Klitschko, after having a tough fight with an 18 month lay off before that!

Klitschko won't have learnt a whole lot from that fight he doesn't already know, AJ would have learnt an absolute ton. I can't see it happening if I am honest.

It isn't a fairy tale, it's boxing. He is getting old, AJ is getting better. I'd love him to come back and win the fight, but it's getting more and more unlikely with each day that goes by.

That's aging for ya. So true. Joshua needed that fight to have the best heavyweight on his record. Klitschko didn't need Joshua to have a successful career.

What Joshua learned in that fight was invaluable. Don't go full on for 5 rounds and expect after a knockdown for it to be easy.

Boxers who cam box better than he can, even in spite of an amateur gold medal are dangerous at all times.

Klitschko literally only learnt that Joshua is the real deal. I agree. He was one or two clean punches away.

And Klit is smart enough to capitalise on the succes he had. We will learn is Joshua is a 'good learner' as well as a great fighter. And Joshua won;t have home support although he will have a lot of travelling nutters!

I feel the same. He almost won that fight, and was landing a lot of power shots into AJ's face. Because Wlad was getting outboxed Joshua won't make the mistake to let himself gas out again.
