No, that's so dumb that I actually had to stop reading for a bit before I could keep going. I had to wait and suspend my sense of disbelief till the very air around me turned into unicorn darts, because that was just And sure Earle, tried to toss in a throwaway line about some military blockade and how the Heresay were trying to get medicine to puppies or something along the lines but by that point I was already disengaged and ultimately national policies and politics are little too complicated for a single incident tossed in with a few sentences and no additional context to justify things.

I mean for real the only thing that could possibly justify the decision at "that" point, was the fact that our MC was basically a man from mars with no stake or understanding of the fight he's in Except that doesn't make anything better because then I imagine a literal man from mars plopping down in the middle east signing up with a security company and then deciding the sexy terrorist he's been sent to arrest might have a point after all and oh look there's my kindle out the stinking window The point is basically for the main plot to get rolling you have to shut off your brain and leave it there for a good bit.

I liked the idea of using soul power to upgrade the ship and the armor, however the personality of the ship is grating.

The story was pretty ok till the MC just switches sides abruptly then tells some random all of his secrets and then a relationship forms out of nowhere.

I almost feel like the author believe all men are stupid and simple aswell because every main character in his books becomes retarded when they see a women that they find attractive regardless if the women trys to kill them or not.

After reading that little gem I instantly disliked for him; he is supposed to be the good guy and now in two sentences you've ruined him. This seems to be a bit of a issue with Earle.

I just finished Lion's Quest: Undefeated and that book had a couple of characters supposedly good people make some offensive comments about the MC and a misunderstanding about him being gay.

Because of this I'm not going to look into any other of Earle's series, which is sad because he really is a great writer. View all 8 comments.

It's really just a bunch of old concepts and some cliches. But there's nothing wrong with that, at least not in this case.

It's basically a character that got abducted by a homicidal artificial intelligence to a very far away place and he's trying to get home. The good part is that it's humorous.

So, as long as MSE can keep up the comedic aspect, then it'll be an awesome series. The problem is, just like a joke can get old, a homicidal AI can also get old.

Well, that's for book 2 to decide. The other gimmick is the game elements that MSE weaved into this series.

The spaceship is upgradeable. And the protagonist himself is made upgradeable. I think MSE can use a balancing patch but it works well enough I guess.

There's also the fact that MSE's books are oriented around a horny protagonist. I'm cool with that though. It doesn't bother me much.

There is great combat action in this book with minimal boring stuff between. I like the twist with the hot twins, any guy who has dated a woman with a sister twin or not knows his butt is toast if he looks at her sister.

Jay thought he was in trouble as there are very few men out there who have not dreamed of being with a pair of hot twins.

The powered armor suit with the leg spikes reminded me of the Glitter Boy powered armor from Rifts. Unusual and creative uses of a power suit in this book.

The author shows great creativity in creating unusual situations for his hero. The prison assault is especially enjoyable, one of the best that I have read.

Reading the same menu again and again was annoying. I dislike most LitRPG material, and I can usually skip through it fairly fast, but having to wade through the same menu several times irritated me.

Made me think that Jay was too damned stupid to remember what was on the menu and what he wanted to upgrade with the souls. Unless the author had a particular reason for listing that damn menu several times that I am unaware of, that is the only real complaint I have about this book.

The main character Jay, is a likeable protagonist who seems to believe he's a white knight while engaging in the occasional bloodbath.

The sentient ship is an aggressive jerk who I wished could get punished on occasion, but by the end of the story, had really grown on me.

The concept of the currency in this story is quite interesting and actually bothers to explain itself quit An interesting story that starts out strong and despite some wobbling in the middle, manages to end on a pretty high note.

Aside from the flip flopping characters I only had two real complaints about the story. The first would be that the main character feels a bit too rude by times, being less accepting of other people.

Probably the best example of this would be the gay joke he makes at the expense of his childhood bullies near the beginning.

The other problem I had was the sort of space Lothario side of the main character. Sure this is far less than other similar stories in the genre but it really made me cringe at one point near the end.

I f'n love this book. The MC is alright. That AI tho. I'd have his kids. I swear to god I would. I loved the AI, it was like having that one friend of yours that has nothing but bad ideas, but every once in a while, you give in and do something stupid with them that ends up with you telling your other friends But the only difference is that you ALSO MC doesn't have a well of inspiration to pull from so your MC great ideas are only marginally better than your friends "Bad ideas".

The witter banter between the MC and the AI is what really keeps the book afloat. If you've ever played Portal you know what I'm talking about.

I am thoroughly endorsing this book for anyone who's into space opera. Be thee warned There is a LOT of cursing, gratuitous amount of death, and off the wall shenanigans throughout this book IF you're looking for what I gen read that has massive sex romps in it.
