The writers really laid on the dime store detective novel fantasies thick and heavy, not runny at all. It certainly gave it the film noir, dark comedy realism that is just silly enough at times to be comedic but there's not a lot of that.

After watching too many badly directed and acted films the past weekend, I must say that Shane Black did an excellent job though he certainly had plenty of talent to work with in the scenes.

Get used to it. There is so much adult humor, I doubt even the most mature 17 yo would get it anyway. Superbly quirky and clever while maintaining high action energy throughout.

Laugh out loud scenes. Complicated off-kilter story keeps you engaged. Some loose ends in the plot, you won't care because it's such a fun ride.

Unconventional characters, sweet but never weak. Sexy without being degrading. It's definitely a movie about guys, but it's smart enough to be able to do that without being asinine with its female characters.

Val Kilmer cast against type is phenomenal. What a nice surprise! You know how you can scroll through all of Amazon looking for a good movie and lots of times you just can't get a hit?

Tonight wasn't one of those nights, because I found this movie! As many others have said, it's RDJ, Jr. Snarky dialogue, lots of witty banter among the main characters, and some intrigue all mixed together made for a nice show with some laugh-out-loud moments.

The plot was a bit convoluted, but that was ok. It's well worth your time! Blu-Ray looks and sounds a bit better than the DVD.

If you like your murder mysteries served up with humor, then this is the one! An odd-ball buddy movie that quickly becomes a trio when they are joined by a wonderful "dame" in the s sense of the word.

The dialogue is snappy, clever and fun, and the plot goes a mile-a-minute with some twists you don't see coming. I loved the climatic keystone-cops-type chase scene and shoot 'em up, and all of it with a strong dash of LA noir!

Don't know how I missed this when it first came out. Kilmer's recent bests, the film does belong to Michelle Monaghan.

She is charming, gutsy, endearing and funny in this performance. Considering the talent involved on either side of the camera, that speaks to her talents.

The film has a dark sense of humor, but no worse than the original Lethal Weapon and far better than The Nice Guys See all reviews.

Perhaps it was meant to be funny in places but if so those instances passed me by - though I found the scene with the spider funny. The film starts off low key but gets more interested as it develops.
